伊藤 瑞子（いとう みずこ、1968年7月22日 - ）は、日本出身の文化人類学者で、カリフォルニア大学アーバイン校人文科学研究所の准教授、慶應義塾大学政策・メディア研究科の客員准教授である。
来歴
アメリカ合衆国と日本で育つ。日本では西町インターナショナルスクールとアメリカンスクール・イン・ジャパンに通った。
ハーバード大学在籍時、「Zen and Tea Ritual: A Comparative Analysis」（禅と茶の比較分析）の論文を著して東アジア研究科の学位を取得し、1990年に卒業した。
その後、スタンフォード大学の大学院で研究を行い、1991年には論文「The Holistic Alternative: A Symbolic Analysis of an Emergent Culture」を著して、人類学の学士となった。
1998年、論文「Interactive Media for Play: Kids, Computer Games and the Productions of Everyday Life」を著して、教育学科の博士号を取得した。
2003年には論文「Engineering Play: Children’s Software and the Productions of Everyday Life」を著して、人類学科の博士号を取得した。2016年にワシントン大学で若い世代とデジタル文化、開かれた学習に関する講演を行った。
人物
- 夫のScott Fisherと2人の子供とともに、南カリフォルニアに在住している。
- 2006年時点で弁当ブログをつけていた。
- 兄は伊藤穰一で、ベンチャーキャピタリストであり、兄妹で Chanpon.orgを主催している。
研究
主な専門はメディアテクノロジーに関するもので、デジタルメディアが人間関係やアイデンティティー、コミュニティをどのように変えるかを研究している。松田美佐、岡部大介と共著で『Personal, Portable, Pedestrian: Mobile Phones in Japanese Life』（MIT Press, 2005年）を著した。2006年には、子供たちがデジタルメディアの技術をどのように使っているかを研究するため、マッカーサー基金の助成を受けた。その研究から論文「Digital Media and Learning Hub」と2冊の本『Hanging Out, Messing Around, and Geeking Out』、『Engineering Play: A Cultural History of Children's Software]』を著した。カメラ付き携帯電話で撮影した画像の使用を民族学的視点で分析した。
